Why is eorlund gray mane dead

If so than Spoiler go in jovaskr and see if skjor is back from the dead. Someone said their eorlund died and skjor came back to life in another thread. It worked, but Whiterun then became a battlezone, apparently between the Companions and everyone else. Among the dead, there was Eorlund's body, face down in the dust. I quickly backpedaled to the save I made before attempting this. I blame the Battle Borns I bet they had something to do with it On the other hand either Sven or Faendal can also die 'off-screen', so why not other npcs?

I haven't answered them yet. My guess would be that, for some strange reason, that particular quest at that particular stage causes the training dialogue for Eorlund to become unavailable.

If that's the case, then this would definitely be a bug as there's really no rational reason why he should refuse to train me at that point but still be willing to sell me shit.

Could someone attempt to repro this for me? Whiterun was kinda trashed during the Civil War quest-line, and though it is mostly for aesthetic purposes and one house for a Thieves Guild quest , I'd kinda like the town to go back to normal. Problem is, I read in one source that it stays trashed permanently, and in another that it is supposed to reset after a certain amount of time. I'm fairly sure it isn't the latter, as something like several in-game months have passed since that quest was over and done for.
